Located in the former space of La Negrita, 999 has more of the atmosphere of a drinking-den than its free Wi-Fi/café-geared predecessor: They’ve kept the black marble-top bar, the rosewood paneling, and the same moderate floor-space, but that’s as far as the similarities go. From 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., $4 drafts and $5 well drinks are the watchwords here, and seventies-soul nights are held on a regular basis. The new management of this place (same management as Barbu in South Beach, Miami) have done their homework, and it shows: From the new Internet jukebox to the bottle-service offered in the box-size VIP section, this place was built for late-night drinking.
