At this den of Asian kitsch, Brooklyn’s muscled cruisers rekindle the nightlife they loved before being priced out of Chelsea. While a hanging silk kimono, Chinatown tassels, and a grinning spray-painted dragon may suggest a variegated interior, the space is actually overwhelmingly red from the painted walls down to the maroon throw pillows. During theme nights in the less gaudy Dragon’s Den, men with oversized pecs in undersized T-shirts—and accompanied by the occasional female— abandon the less-than-cozy mahogany banquettes with short tables in favor of some rump-shaking to disco and 80’s pop. In the summer, cabana boys work beneath bejeweled lights of the outdoor patio while serving smooth chilled shots of soju, and cocktails like the Urerection, the Beyatch, or the Dragito, a crisp mojito using sake instead of rum to avoid the usual sugar headache.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
