The schizo space that housed homo haunt Wonder Bar until it became the dive Duck Bar has returned to its gay roots. Beyond the velvet-draped entrance that’s guarded by a bouncer with the detached poise of a KGB officer, a marquee’s worth of burlesque red light bulbs adorn a jewel-box in which faux-hawked locals and hoodie-clad Chelsea boys flirt their way into communal oblivion while imbibing drinks that are priced for the Cold War. The nightly D.J. acts have developed loyal followings.

The music kicks ass. The drinks are strong. The bartenders (especially that tall one) are crazy hot. I went there for the first time last weekend and my friends and I danced, drank and laughed all night. It did get really crowded but the crowd was cute so it was cool.
