Profile

Walls covered with a mélange of oversized swirly flowers in deep purples and pinks show that this club caters to gypsies in the mold of Sienna Miller, not Janis Joplin, although elements of bohemian chic such as beaded vintage tops, pageboy caps, blazers, zip-up sporty cardigans do surface in the diverse crowd that’s less uppity than the snaking lines down the block (and an emphasis on bottle service) suggest. Upstairs, the DJ elicits squeals of recognition via an eclectic mix of favorites such as “Real Love,” “Sweet Child of Mine,” “Loser,” and “Gold Digger,” to which dancers wiggle precariously on top of the central back-to-back leather sofas, in the booths lining the wall, and in the narrow walkways in between. Under the low ceiling of the spartan downstairs, couches skirt an open dance floor where no-nonsense grinding takes precedence over the uninhibited goofiness above.
