Profile

From the Booty Call Martini to the electrified Motown soundtrack, this central Harlem watering hole has seriously funky character. The bottled beer and pedestrian wine list are forgotten in a rainbow of pineapple-infused, locally-labeled drinks—the Harlem Shuffle, the Harlem Iced Tea (the Moca take on the Long Island), and that booty drink. Belly up to the copper-top bar and order from a tantalizing comfort food menu of sliders, jerk chicken, and shrimp linguine. On weekends, you can “get freaky with Harlem’s best eye candy” on an impromptu dance floor or just sit back and watch from a plush stretch of divans and throw pillows doused by an improbable amount of candlelight.

The management in Moca is terrible. How are you going to kick out a person for wearing a armless sweater. I mean a sweater. I was a loyal customer. I dropped a lot of money on Moca mainly because it was a Black business. But they could care less. The bar staff is great. But the management is terrible. In this bad economy I can definitely spend my money where it is appreciated.

If I could rate Moca a zero, I would

Last night, my sister and I visited Moca lounge in Harlem. Unknowingly, we were unaware of the lack of customer service we were going to receive. We were politely greeted and seated on the couches. However, we much more perferred the bar area. Upon viewing an opeing at the bar we took a seat. 5 mins after sitting at the bar, a bar maid, named Karen advised us that we could not sit there. Why? We assume she was saving the seat for her high tipping customer's, which is quite unfair. Not only did she ask us to move, but when we didn't she began rushing us and talking loudly about us. She later began to eat off a customer's plate while continuing to serve drinks and utilized her cell phone every so often. Come to find out she was the manager of the establishment. I will never vist this place again!!!!!!!!!!
