Profile

Sandwiched between two parking garages, the first bar in Washington Heights to cater exclusively to gay men is the offspring of a highly successful gay night at nearby Monkey Room. Because of the bar's proximity to the George Washington Bridge, No Parking attracts men from Bergen County as well as those from the surrounding neighborhood who come to watch cult sexploitation flicks on flat-screen TVs early in the week or exotic dancers gyrating to D.J.-spun salsa and hip-hop on the circular bar from Wednesday to Sunday. For those who can peel their eyes from the soft porn and the packages, the space evinces a cozy minimalism via red walls, sleek deep purple couches and one large, modern, colorful chandelier.
