Profile

Home plate for neighborhood old-timers, this comfortable bar’s dark wood-paneled walls ooze memorabilia, from seventies-style fake-marble-top mirrors to vintage sports and Budweiser posters, illustrated plaques commemorating Black History Month and a shelf piled with thick, leather-bound photo albums from drinking days gone by. Even the anachronistic Internet jukebox fits the vibe with its heavy rotation of Temptations and Ray Charles cuts. So who cares if all the beers are served in bottles and the “Happy Birthday” sign hung spread-eagled behind the counter looks like it’s been up there a century? The dusty atmosphere and local crowd are everything here.
