Profile

The draw at Above Allen is, without a doubt, its location: The exclusive spot’s on the seventh floor of boutique hotel Thompson LES and boasts a panoramic view, thanks to an ample patio, glass walls, and a retractable roof. In the warmer months, when it’s a veritable rooftop oasis complete with a patio wading pool, the snug members-and-hotel-guests-only spot (with room for 100) is definitely worth the hassle—otherwise, it’s a toss-up. The narrow space can get overrun, with plenty of dudes in interesting hats and model girls bouncing on their heels to “Friday I’m in Love.” The obvious dance space is right in front of the glass-door entrance, which can be awkward when a new batch of partiers is observing while waiting to be carted in from the elevator banks. The rest of the space is mostly taken up by waitress-serviced banquettes and various flora.

Continuing from review below....We ordered several rounds, but asked for our check, left no tip, and went into the elevator. The waitress came out after us asking to talk to us for a minute. I said no we're done and will be leaving. They were so disrespectful to the bday girl and to all out friends that came up. Go back to Customer Service 101. You should be kissing our behinds, not the other way around. When we asked them if our friends will be able to come up later, the staff said depends what they look like and what time it is. We left at 11:30 -12am and it was dead so why the attitude. I've been going out in Manhattan for years, all the hot spots and have never been treated like this.

Avoid the 7th Floor bar at this place

Went here last night for drinks for a birthday. It was around 9pm and it was three girls. Guy in the lobby by the velvet rope (what a joke) was giving us a hard time about letting us in for a drink. You take the elevator up to the 7th floor where you get more attitude from another guy in front of velvet rope who acts like he's doing you a favor by letting you in. A few more girls joined us later, then two guys. The girls got in with attitude, when the guys came we went to get them and the doorman said 'i already let in so many guys to your party already', when my friend said no you didn't i swear, he called her a liar. Then another wait staff guy came to our table to smooth things over and said b/c the waitress asked me nicely, I'll let you guys stay. My friend said, it's not a privilege for us to stay here and he stomped off in a tiff.
