Profile
Skulking on the corner of Avenue C and 7th Street, this modest spot combines the grittiness of a neighborhood dive with a colored-lit stage. Featuring DJ'd theme nights and the occasional rumpled rock band, the bar attracts gatherings of locals whose aesthetic varies from night to night. Although drinks like the caipirinha and the mojito are advertised, it somehow seems more appropriate to have a low-end brew in your hand. On a slow Tuesday night, the Alphabet Lounge is the perfect place to hang out on your own: With friends present, you'd feel guilty talking over the band, which is really playing just for you. — Sara Stewart
80s Night
On Fridays and Saturdays, the Alphabet Lounge embraces the cheesier side of life with its '80s night, no doubt frightening away a few of its more dour regulars.
Live Music
Wed.–Sat., 7 p.m.–11 p.m., $6–$8.

Rude bartenders and 80s music.

I went to Alphabet Lounge for a friends birthday and I was told it would be a really fun time, which it had the potential of being, if the place wasn't so small and crowded. We had a $35 all you can drink package from 11-1 and the bartenders were all rude, and seemed to hate their jobs. While I love me some old school Madonna and Janet, I absolutely don't like 4 hours straight of it. I would go somewhere else before thinking about going there.
Excellent Friday Night!!

Located on East Village, I heard about this place via friends who celebrated their birthday and read the positive reviews from The NY Times. Also checked out reviews on www.newyork.citysearch.com. As soon as I walked in with my friends to a cozy dim lighted, warm social club, we were greeted by the friendly bartenders. The Swanky ambiance, complimented the specialty drinks made by owner/bartender Babu, try their wide range of shots. Not a huge selection of drinks but I prefer quality over quantity. The place was packed but not overcrowded. DJ was spinning both old and new music from 80's to recent tracks, she was also taking requests and extremely nice. Overall we had a great night and would go back there again! I am thinking about hosting our next charity event there. Best time to go is on "Fabulous Friday." Free admission for Ladies, college students with valid college ID get free admission before 12am but RSVP.
