The wine bar Anfora—named after containers used to transport and store vino back in 4800 B.C.—is sleek and polished; think brown leather, exposed brick, dim lighting, and neo-backpacker-rap on low volume. But the establishment’s real draw is its beverage selection. The menu features reasonably priced wines lovingly harvested by biodynamic, organic, and sustainable growers across Europe, whose biographies (some of which are unexpectedly dramatic) and pictures you can peruse in the catalogue-like menu. There’s also the requisite menu of Italian small plates including cheeses, salumi, salads, and sandwiches. One last thing: The odd acoustics mean conversation can sometimes be a somewhat tricky endeavor.
