Aubette is best enjoyed on a mild afternoon when you’ve snuck out of work early to enjoy the end of the day from a table next to the wall of glass doors that opens onto 27th Street. If you and your partners in crime would like something a bit more discreet, however, head to the back room, which is all couches and candlelight, even in the middle of the day. On weekends, Aubette draws crowds out of proportion to what it has to offer: A simple loft-like space, uncomfortable outdoor metal chairs, and bartenders whose friendly attitude perhaps compensates for the fact that they aren’t exactly master mixologists.
