Profile
The Auction House is a diamond in the rough—if by “diamond” you mean warm and unpretentious hangout, and by “rough” you mean the Upper East Side. Unlike the overly preppy, generic bars that litter the area, The Auction House offers a cozier alternative, fireplace and all. Red-velvet drapes, a mahogany bar, and intimate tables for two are perfect for a romantic rendezvous or, if you’re a local, a starting point for your weekend. Groomed 20-somethings abound, without a white collegiate cap in sight (breaking the curse of the UES!). Though some slightly creepy nude portraits stare down at you from the walls, the mood is otherwise inviting and relaxed. With the fire ablaze and the candlelight aglow, you’ll feel as snug as a bug in a rug, er, bar? You get the idea.
Dress Code
The bar enforces a strict no-fur policy.
Age Policy
The bar is ages 25-and-up only on weekends.
