While the gargantuan size of Balthazar's dining room may leave you feeling a bit chilly, its bar area offers a more intimate (though not necessarily friendlier) setting. The mahogany benches and leather stools surrounding the zinc bar fill up early. But whether or not you secure a seat, the immaculately clad bartenders will grant you and your cocktails the utmost care (Bloody Marys are incredibly fresh and spicy, Cosmopolitans cool and frothy), and gustatory offerings like olives and Parmesan crisps have a civilizing effect on the tourists and hob-nobbers impatiently bumping elbows with each other. — Nicole Davis

We had to go twice there to be seated (I mean 2 different days!), even though the tables were free, and there were no people waiting to be seated before as. The reception stuff told us the kitchen was about to close so we had a choice to seat at the bar which was full. Then a party of 3 came after us, and got seated immediately..They had to be kidding..this place...is not worth the maltreatment!!! Sorry but that's the truth, there are hundreds of those places in Paris with such an atmosphere.
