Hotel 41
|
Located inside the fashionable Hotel 41 on a side street just below Times Square, the sleekly modern Bar 41 is a respite from the gaudy confusion outside, its linear architecture and recessed cove lighting evidencing an updated, stripped-down take on art deco. During the early evening, the bar doubles as a low-key eatery serving the requisite burgers alongside more haut specialties and attracting mostly hotel guests to its 50 seats around tables of varying sizes. Later on, the room becomes one big dark corner where a mix of locals and young, suave visitors sink into the plush mohair banquettes to speak in hushed tones over cosmos. The place rarely fills up and unlike the big screens outside, the six televisions located throughout the room are usually turned off.
