Bar-Tini mixes a laid-back Mediterranean vibe with a Connecticut aesthetic. The cream-colored mosaic tile counter and azure accent lighting scream Ibiza, while the baby-blue walls accented with starch-white square-paneled wainscoting bring in a touch of Old World elegance. During happy hours, after-work types wait patiently for muscle-shirt-clad Fabios to pour them saccharine lychee martinis, while the unmanned D.J. booth spits out predictable Top 40 hits; a flatscreen above the bar streams music videos that sometimes sync with what’s currently playing (but usually don’t). Later on, the nightly D.J. spins house music to a sweaty after-hours bunch, but don’t worry, PDA-phobes: Hooking up on the plush velvet couches tends to be minimal. In terms of its Hell’s Kitchen counterparts, it’s a good middle ground between the crazed, jam-packed dance atmosphere of the Ritz and the neighborhood coziness (and occasional seaminess) of Posh.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
