Easily missed from the street, Barcelona Bar is a sultry, intimate escape, with deep red walls and plush dark cushioning. But the opium-den aesthetic has nothing to do with the space's ultimate goal: to get its young, post-frat clientele hammered as quickly as possible. Beside the typical Jager bombs and flashy flaming counterparts, the endless shot list offers 100-plus original (if dubious) concoctions like the Shocker and the Monica Lewinsky—which involves donning a black wig then doing a "blowjob" on the glass. The crowd? Young midtown professionals who loosen their ties after parking their briefcases by the door; by the end of the night, it's just a bunch of snickering friends looking to embarrass their knucklehead pals.

Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
