A spacious old haunt in an historic neighborhood, Barrow Street Ale house has enjoyed past lives as a 19th century carriage house and a jazz club. Now it’s a dive bar. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. The requisite components for bedraggled beer drinking are all in place: sports-saturated satellite TVs in every corner; broken, outdated video games; a jukebox filled with rock staples from classic to contemporary. There’s even a dank, dungeon-like basement with a pool table. The mostly modest crowd sits strewn throughout, guzzling beer from the selection of over 25 bottled varieties and 16 taps.
