Pre-hipster Brooklyn still lives on at this small, no-frills bar on a quiet stretch of Gerritsen Beach, a working-class neighborhood in the very outskirts of the borough. Beach Bar—which borders the Brooklyn Marine Park and is within minutes of the waterfront—is home to seven TVs, faux-seaside-esque memorabilia, and a jukebox blaring country and classic rock. Neighborhood outsiders are rare, but don’t have a hard time enjoying themselves alongside the local-as-they-come locals, a casually dressed mix of South Brooklyn–accented couples and guys watching the game. (Don't get rowdy when your team loses; off-duty NYPDers also favor the gritty-yet-comfortable spot.) Happy hour is more or less an irrelevant concept when beers run you $2, well drinks $4, and frozen margaritas are just $5.
