Temporarily Closed for Renovation
More of a backroom to the Belleville Bistro than a full-blown lounge, this is a comfy place for locals to get quietly drunk on carafes of decent red wine. The decor is prototypical Parisian: mustard-yellow walls provide a backdrop for the apparent spoils of a raid on an antiques fair. The bar holds no liquor but a trove of wine from France, while a variety of small plates hit on all the standards, including cheese samplers and charcuterie, rillettes and moules and desserts heavy on dairy and fresh fruit. An unexpected crowd favorite is the white-sauced Alsatian pizza, topped with garlic, herb butter and "wild burgundy escargot."
