Profile

This venue is closed.

Check into Bellevue and behold the sordid vibe, with beat-up couches and aging local barflies propped up against the bar. The place bills itself as "an elegant dive," a slightly self-conscious designation suggesting that Bellevue's down-market appeal is perhaps a bit irony-laden. But who cares? The mix of sixtysomething losers and twentysomething hipsters is, essentially, what everyone wants in a watering hole. That way, there's plenty of eye candy to enjoy at the same time as the place remains "authentic."

Note

Bellevue Bar does not have a phone.

Great Live Acoustic Rock

It looks like the place was an old luncheonette. the stools are attached to the bar (well, most of them) and they are low to the ground. I stumbled in on a Tuesday night around 11pm and there was this long haired guy playing acoustic guitar and singing. It was so cool. The songs were definitely drenched in the 60's but he said they were original and they were damn good. I mean this guy can rock out. There wasn't even a sound system; he just kinda walked around a bit and had to lift his guitar when someone had to pass by to get to the bathroom. His name was Tim Young.

heavenly hell

am a huge fan of the late 70s-early 80s punk/hard rock/heavy metal movement...before it became saturated.bellevue's jukebox is the best i've seen-no better place to get maximum drunk for minimum cost with the hottest bartenders and best music. no exclusions...everyone from angry old men to 21 yr old club kids to bikers to artists and beyond...jimmy duff the owner has his hearse parked out front-this place is original AND irreverant; only heavy metal bar i know of in manhattan.must be seen to be believed.
