Profile

If Franz Kafka had a favorite bar in New York, Bohemian Hall would be it—and not just because it used to be a Czech and Slovak social club (and still is the central gathering spot for Astoria's Czech and Slovak community). A city unto itself, this massive, time-warped relic has all manner of side rooms and antechambers branching off from the main bar. Wander these labyrinths after you've polished off a few mugs of the dark Brouczech or the light Staropramen, and you'll have a whole new first-hand appreciation of the term Kafkaesque. The ample garden was made for balmy summer days, but the bar itself is inviting even in the dead of winter. Rockin' Czech and Slovak festivals and concerts, however, are available only in season.

Note

The bar only accepts cash, but there is an ATM on the premises. Credit cards are accepted for orders from the kitchen only.

amicable, clean, cozy, charming, intriguing, .... are the type of words that instantly come to mind. I frequent the beer garden on all types of occasions from a night out with the guys, on dates, its always a good time. The atmosphere is like no other, very easy to make new friends or to get a little loud with old friends, without bothering the table next to you. The beer is great $15 a pitcher, and unless its really packed, there's never a wait at any of the 3 bars or for a waitress. The food is great and well priced. Just make sure you check the weather before you go, showers can take away some of the wonder pretty quickly.

Great for private parties!!

I absolutely love BEER GARDEN. Its great if you wana go somewhere that you and your friends can privately have fun. Its great atmospher, lots of beers & shots. and FOOD. All in the outside of a beautiful outdoor garden. Brings back the feeling that you are on a camping trip sitting on the benches. I love it!
