The several Lite-Brite screens and cubes sitting on end tables may be gimmicky, but Brite Bar’s view of the glowing Empire State Building certainly isn’t; the landmark’s beautiful, hulking presence is framed quite stunningly in the bar’s floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall front windows. Apparently that’s one of the perks of putting down roots in burgeoning West Chelsea (or “Chelsea Heights” in realtor parlance), where the buildings are low and the Midtown skyline looms so close you could almost reach out and touch it. But sightlines aren’t all this bar has going for it. It also has arguably the best lighting of any bar in the city, a soft, highly flattering amber-tinged glow cast from three sleek silver canister-like chandeliers above the bar top. And though the drinks menu is extensive, ranging from the zingy "Fother Mucker" cocktail (Zygo Energy vodka and a splash of citrus flavors) to four kinds of tequila, it’s almost an afterthought once you’re lulled by the light and the view into a relaxing groove.
