Brooklyn Heights Wine Bar is the joint effort of Mark Lahm, owner of Henry’s End restaurant right around the corner, and James Montemarano, owner of Cranberry’s Deli next door. During the day, the bar caters to tourists looking to grab a bite after a walk on the Brooklyn Bridge; at night, it’s left to locals. The décor is low-key: dark oak panels, simple wooden furniture, and floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the small space with sunlight. The wine list is more varied than at Henry’s End, with a good selection of fairly priced international bottles. The seasonally-changing small-plates menu could include crave-worthy medjool dates filled with blue cheese and wrapped in speck, a mushroom and brie tart, and stinky cheese.

Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
