Ex–Ginger Man manager Trevor Budd opened this shack last spring, wisely retaining previous inhabitant Pioneer Bar-B-Q’s splintery walls, tufted red banquettes, and mismatched bar stools. Like its predecessor, the Ice House caters to the needs of the neighborhood’s scruffy artists and nine-to-fivers alike with excellent barbecue (pulled-pork sandwiches and brisket po’ boys). The biggest improvement is the 70-plus beer selection, which ranges from couple-buck cans of Porkslap to capably poured Dogfish Head and Guinness pints.
