What would be a forgettable sports bar in any other neighborhood is, in the case of the Bull Moose Saloon, a haven of calm for the Times Square escapee. The bi-level spot kindly keeps the tacky touches to a minimum; checkered tablecloths and exposed brick read as budget-Italian-without-the-kids-in-tow. A healthy Broadway contingent—from gruff stagehands to boisterous extras still using their stage voices—are here primarily for Joe Schmo amenities and charms: darts, pool, wings.
