If he likes his dates paired with Pinot, but you prefer coffee, compromise at this charming wine and coffee bar. The chandeliers and brick wall make the spot much more sensual than Starbucks, so get the timing right: As the evening wears on, laptops are turned off, the music turns up, and, if you like your date, you two can linger over a cheese plate.

What a great addition to UES. Romantic and sexy as Erminia (same owner.) Gracious staff. Great looking adult crowd. If you want to go for a drink on Upper East Side at a bar without college kids or have light late night fare with your spouse or a date, this is the place. All the other "wine bars" on the UES are contrived (some look like shoe stores.) Cafe Notte is the real thing with classy comfortable food wine and decor. I have been there over a dozen times since it opened and am grateful it seems to be succeeding and staying true to it's intent.
