Profile

The sign on the awning reads "Where good friends party hardy," but if you look closely, you'll see that "hardy" was once rendered "hardly." Was that a Freudian slip? Sitting in the shadow of the BQE, this worn-out, wood-paneled bar offers little to enliven Greenpoint's concrete. Pac Man is the diversion of choice; Bud, the beer. A ceiling tiled with particleboard gives way to mirrored panels above the dance floor. By the time the house music gets the crowd a little rowdy (around 11pm), the bartenders have switched from glasses to plastic cups. Small groups of old-timers stay seated at the bar to watch ESPN on rows and rows of TVs. It's no wonder that the bar has its own energy drink: You're gonna need it.
