Cava is a cozy little wine bar in a neighborhood where libations usually come cheaper: The quiet, intimate spot is a lovely antidote to nearby frat bars Bourbon Street and Brother Jimmy’s. The low lighting and colorful, semi-abstract nudes on the walls set a casually romantic mood, and the small plates are perfect for a light meal (try the standout Vieras—grilled scallops in a creamy coconut sauce). There are over twenty wines offered by the glass, and another eighty or so by the bottle; wines are culled from all over the world. Bottles start at around $30 and the steepest is a $350 1978 Rioja; most fall somewhere in the middle.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
