Another day, another East Village wine bar with flickering candlelight, prosciutto crostini, and a long list by the glass. To wit, Cellar 58 boasts an open interior that's welcoming, if a touch overdecorated—warm woods and stately mirrors give way to colorful murals of ample nude women looking down from the walls. A tucked-away back room, with a raised communal table and wine racks, is the more elegant space for sipping. 16 whites and 13 reds by the glass (and over 150 by the bottle) are poured from all corners of the world, and not just the currently budget-friendly Chile and New Zealand—Greece, Austria, and Bulgaria all make an appearance. (Old guards Bordeaux and Montepulciano do, too.)

Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
