Profile
Currently closed for renovations.
Another day, another East Village wine bar with flickering candlelight, prosciutto crostini, and a long list by the glass. To wit, Cellar 58 boasts an open interior that's welcoming, if a touch overdecorated—warm woods and stately mirrors give way to colorful murals of ample nude women looking down from the walls. A tucked-away back room, with a raised communal table and wine racks, is the more elegant space for sipping. The wine list includes roughly 30 options by the glass (an almost-equal mix of reds and whites) and over 150 by the bottle. The pours come from all corners of the world, and not just the currently budget-friendly Chile and New Zealand- Greece, Austria, and Bulgaria all make an appearance. (Old guards Bordeaux and Montepulciano do, too.)
