Profile

This venue is closed.

Seho features promoter-driven rock downstairs, and DJ-spun outer-borough rap/hip-hop spun at ground level. But with its lousy acoustics, this basement space's cement walls and makeshift stage are better suited to low-rent burlesque acts than John Mayer wannabes. At best, Seho is dark enough to be heaven-on-Ludlow for guys prowling chicks. There are odd nooks for trysts—the space moonlights as a fetish club—and tall potted plants—to hide behind when you're done. Upstairs a huge screen plays movies like Scarface on mute while three Target-bought urns and a Ms. PacMan suffice for décor. The two-tops and diner-style booths are flush to the side to facilitate dancing. Big tattooed guys wearing cut-off tees crowd the 1980s Ft. Lauderdale-style back bar where they buy gin and tonics for saucy girls who probably get even saucier for fetish nights.
