Profile
Given the location, it's no surprise that the clientele at this wood-paneled shrine to tobacco tends toward the pinstripe-and-cuff-link variety. What is shocking is how reasonably priced the cigars are. (They start at $4.) But who knows if that will last—Macanudo is already grandfathered in as one of only a handful of bars where smoking is still legal. "Oh, yeah, baby," croons the bartender, rubbing his fingers together. "I can't wait!"

Needlessly expensive, go only to impress clients.

This place has a great atmosphere, but that is only trumped by the prices... Of everything. It's nice to be able to smoke anywhere, but at the same time, at what cost? The cigars and drinks are much to pricey, though the food gets closer to how much it's actually worth.
I'd suggest Hudson Bar and Books, or for the even more frugal the (BYOB) Velvet Cigar Lounge.
Hanging out in Cuba-esque

Hung out and smoked cigars for work. Even though the location is meant to be a quiet club, with the latin band playing last night it felt like I was hanging out in Cuba. Women beware! 10-1 men to women ratio, and even though that sounds ideal, it depends on your age preference. The service is excellent, and there is a huge selection of cigars. Definitely a NYC must do!
