On warm evenings, the bartender at this easy-going lounge flings back the bifold doors and drags a few tables and chairs out to the sidewalk. Out there, with a well-mixed martini at your elbow and the sounds from the bar's stereo floating by, it's hard to imagine a better way to while away the night in Queens. Inside, the lounge is just as charming: The three Astoria locals who own the bar have dressed it up with velvet armchairs, comfy couches and gilded mirrors. The daily happy hour attracts neighborhood denizens returning from work. — Kirsten Matthew

Best Atmosphere in Astoria

There are quite a few bars near the Broadway station stop on the N or W line, but this has the best ambiance. You don't feel like you are sitting in a bar, but rather at a house party in someone's living room. The owners really set this place apart with over-stuffed chairs and couches for seating. There are some bar stools at the bar for the regulars and serious drinkers. But perhaps it feels a bit too much like home. One of the bar tenders (I don't know her name) often seems oblivious to customers needing a drink. It's the best place to bring someone you want to get to know, because you can actually have a conversation here without screaming. Most bars in Astoria are either a) sports bars or b) trendy bars that blast the music so loud that conversation is impossible. Crescent Lounge is my favorite 'date' bar.

this lounge kicks ass. forget the lounges over broadway or on steinway street. this is the place to come. whether its monday night with kareoke and Amy bartending and singing, or thursday with Alex getting everyone drunk. The most amazing thing about this place is the shot boys. Ive never seen anyone take a beating of shots that bad and that consistently (these guys are here all the time). Simply amazing.
