The Manhattan sibling of Williamsburg’s Dijital Fix, Culturefix is primarily a future-focused design and gadget store hawking everything from lomography to high-end speakers. But unlike Dijital, Culture Fix boasts a downstairs bar, meaning each visit generally entails some fun exploration through technology, design, art and booze (not necessarily in that order). The bar itself comprises little more than a long timber counter and a handful of barstools. The heavily Mediterranean wine list (with prices starting at $7 a glass) ably compliment the Basque-style pintxos tapas dishes with a twist: think fennel and chives with citrus, or grilled cheese with mozzarella and cornichons. The menu is rounded off with a couple of local boutique beers and ciders, including a New York brewed white ale and a lovely, sweet pear cider. — Sarah Theeboom
