It's been several years since the closing of Universal Bar and Grill, in the space that's now home to Daddy-O, and area residents are still mourning its loss. But they need to get over it: Daddy-O maintains the straights-and-gays-in-harmony atmosphere, while improving the menu and eliminating the tedious kitsch factor that grated during the Universal years. Here the food complements the cocktails (a huge selection of special scotches, tequilas and rums) and not the other way around. The kitchen stays open until 4am nightly. — Matt Dobkin
