The southwest corner of Port Authority is one of the last remaining vestiges of pre-Giuliani grime: See the bikini bar Port 41 or grab a slice from that shady 99-cent pizza stand across the street. But Dalton's, just a few blocks away, is more in keeping with the former mayor's sanitized ideal. Fifteen flat-screens dominate the long, narrow room, a kind of suburban sports bar with Ikea light fixtures, beige couches, and office workers in tees and fleeces stopping by for a pre-PATH drink. The menu is expansive— roasted chicken, shrimp cocktail, and warm salmon salad—but not necessarily to Dalton’s credit.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
