It’s a lounge! It’s a fondue restaurant! This confused, bi-level bar and restaurant may have an identity complex, but it does offer a hipper alternative to sports-bar saturated Murray Hill. The food is mostly appetizers and small plates, with cheese and chocolate fondue, and hummus and artichoke dips that are surprisingly delicious. The downstairs dining area is all red leather with dim lighting, but seating is scarce here, so you may end up eating at the bar. Don’t feel put out, though—the bar doesn’t get too crowded, and fills with mainly mellow, well-dressed folks in their 20’s on dates or with friends. If you’re looking for a roomier option, the lounge-like upstairs has burgundy leather couches and a candle-lit glow. It’s an ideal spot to rent out for a private party, with a full catering or corporate menu available for 30 to 250 people.
