This tiny Hell's Kitchen spot is easy to miss—until you catch a glimpse of the neon-squared bar inside that closely resembles the dance floor from Saturday Night Fever. Between that and the similarly tinted windows, the narrow front room packs enough of a Technicolor punch to have you wondering if you’d inadvertently found your way to Christopher Street. With red-tinged lighting and fondues on the menu, 'Disiac Lounge clearly does have aphrodisiac aspirations, but it seems primarily to court the female set, who settle in for the "Nosh Nosh" menu of salads and hummus plates, chocolate desserts, and a standard, if well-mixed and reasonably potent, list of mojitos and fruity martinis. The bar’s real draw, however, is in the back, where a pleasant patio is laden with lanterns and Moroccan-style poufs for perching. Populated mostly by small groups of after-work women, it’s a rare drinking garden where you likely won’t have to fight for table space.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
