Marked only by glowing lanterns at the head of a descending stairway, this address once housed a nightclub run by the mafia. It's still home to a mob of sorts: weekend warrior types on most nights. Hopefully they'll soon realize that the models, at least the A-listers, flew this coop, like, two years ago, and leave what really is a fine little cocktail den to more discreet drinkers. Low vaulted ceilings, dim lighting and circular booths tucked into brick walls are tailor-made for staging a seduction, and the place is even named after the Chinese character for marriage.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
