Profile

Drop Off Service's owners have done right by this former laundromat, transforming its once-shabby interior completely but saving the wonderful plate-glass front windows, complete with etched-in name. Where industrial-sized dryers once spun, there are now gleaming taps, dark-stained, high-backed wooden booths, stylishly upholstered chairs, and rows of invitingly sleek barstools. The slick décor doesn’t upstage the main attractions: The list of European wines is concise and dead-on, and among the 22 beers on tap are mainstays such as the taste-bud punishing California import Arrogant Bastard Ale, the refreshing mild bitter ale Marstons Pedigree, and Dry Black Thorne—an English cider that’s a dry, snappy-finishing alternative to the sweet stuff. On weekends, the space fills up with mature, clean-cut East Villagers, some of them ex-pats looking for a taste of home while the incredibly accommodating staff bends over backwards to fulfill their patrons' cravings.

I love a loud and lively bar, but this place leans heavily towards the loud and obnoxious - setting and clientele. It's pretty similar to the other bars along upper Avenue A. Heathers, around the corner on E 13th, is a much better place, with a more focused selection of beers, and great music. Same for the nearby 11th St. Bar, which is always a gem.

Just right

Found this place on a sleepy saturday afternoon.Nice surprise. Excellent choice of Brews. I think 25 plus on Tap alone.Best Pint of Guinness i've had in ages and actually served in a proper 20 ounce Guinness pint glass. The happy hour deal was great (half price until 8pm )$3 a pint for really quality beer. Laid back vibe with good tunes and friendly service. The happy hour crowd is definitely a local crowd but that changed later on when a livelier younger crew started coming in.
