Profile

The cabaret shows at this East Village bar are in high demand. If the updated address sounds familiar, it’s because 308 Bowery was once home to Bob Holman’s Bowery Poetry. The emphasis on verse and tea-drinking is still alive on some Sunday and Monday nights throughout the month. When Holman decided to team-up with Duane Park, the partnership meant changes to the East Village’s verse institution, which has been outfitted with a Southern manor décor imported from the original location. In addition to interior design, Duane Park owners brought their focus on live entertainment to the new space. Tuesday through Friday Cabaret shows range in theme – from Shanghai Vintage to magic shows. The Tribeca spot’s older crowd now mixes with Holman’s creative fan base, sipping at seasonal, artisan-crafted cocktails while lovely ladies named things like “Peek-a-Boo Pointe” and “Amber Ray” strip down to their pasty tassels from Tuesday through Saturday nights.
