Hidden behind a dull, storefront on a nondescript Chelsea block with only a small, lighted globe for a sign, Dusk is easy to miss. Inside, this sleek, dark and sexy lounge feels like the time of day it's named after: slightly disorienting and full of possibilities. In the front, there's a mirror-mosaic on the wall and a pool table is surrounded by banquettes. The dim, inviting back half is lit only from back-lighted bottles at the impressively long bar. Despite the illicit speakeasy vibe, not everything is clandestine: With a two-way mirror above the urinals providing a clear view of the action at the bar, the bathrooms are definitely not for the pee-shy. — Henry Tenney

why isn't this bar packed?!!

I can't figure out why this bar is not packed all the time. In a way I am glad, because I feel like it's my secret! The bartenders are great, they remembered my name AND my drink. Everybody in the place was cool. I would take a date or go there to meet someone. They have one of, if not, the best Jukebox in NYC and a pool table, but at the same time there is an upscale lounge vibe - with no pretense! Mirror mosaic walls, "Smoker's Martinis", bathrooms with one way mirrors - As far as neighborhood bar / lounges go this one should be on everyone's top 5 list, but for some reason it still seems like somewhat of a secret. Do yourself a favor and start your night at dusk (oops! no pun intended) but don't be surprised if you start calling your friends and telling them just to meet you there. (This is starting to sound like I work for them!) Just go there - see if I'm lying!
