In a sector of Brooklyn Heights populated with stony courthouses and gray-suited members of the justice community, Eamonn’s provides a spot of cheer. Its chandelier-lit, two-story interior allows plenty of room for socializing and Irish cultural activities (mainly drinking). The bar sponsors corporate parties, but the crowds are never off-putting; the laid-back neighborhood folks, including E.U. expats, even arrive with baby strollers at times. Eamonn’s has a menu heavy on traditional American fare—think a range of sandwiches and entrees sliced from every major barnyard animal—but also offers comfort food in the form of chicken curry and shepherd’s pie.

Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
