Cheap beer in heavy mugs, more screens than games, and a menu that extends beyond the standard fries and samplers are just some of the pluses at this den of beveled wood and boys’-club booths. Design flourishes like high globe sconces and a long bar, conducive to getting the bartender’s attention, add to East End’s flavor, but it’s the weekday specials that pack them in: Monday Mug Night ($1 Coors), Taco Tuesdays ($6 chicken or beef tacos and a margarita), and Wii & Wings Wednesday. Transcending the usual pub grub, the wings have graduated from Buffalo to their own menu of fifteen flavorings, and they gamely match fuller fare like sirloin sandwiches and Swiss-topped burgers. Weekends offer Irish breakfasts, but also serve up a rowdy scene come nightfall—cheery toasts and games of beer pong are always on hand for the crowd of twenty-something revelers.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
