Located off the East Village’s main nightlife drag, just a few blocks up from the Sunburnt Cow and across the street from Royale, is the East Village Tavern. This beer bar dedicated to the American brewer offers a rotating list of sixteen craft beers, all from right here in the good ol’ US of A (check the Tavern’s website for the latest brew choices). Specialty cans and bottles—Butternuts Pork Slap Pale Ale, La Fin du Monde, Schneider Weisse—are available, along with brew served from an old-fashioned, hand-pumped cask-beer engine, served at an exact 55 degrees. The food menu fights hard to avoid “afterthought” status: Black Angus beef sliders, soft taco chicken wraps, and lobster rolls all make an appearance.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
