The minimalist décor changes often and the menu is extensive: Philly cheese steaks, chicken pot pie, and ten kinds of sandwiches and wraps. Aside from the watery house brew (Epstein's Ale), the beers on tap are as predictable as the Top 40 play list. A two-for-one burger deal that uses the same meat as Corner Bistro draws a thrifty, discriminating crowd on Sundays. But if Epstein's falls on the generic side, it's not only what's inside that counts. The wraparound windows that open onto the street permit shameless people watching even when the kitchen shuts down early (which it's been known to do).
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
