Profile

Indulge your inner lush at this lofty Lower East Side restaurant whose all-weekend brunch special includes three drinks: mimosas, screwdrivers, or horseradish-heavy Bloody Marys. The lively atmosphere and intriguing Jewish-Latin fare can mean long waits, so make reservations. And don't be afraid to take matters into your own hands if the wait staff loses its collective train of thought; a recent Sunday afternoon found one group of hipsters heading to the bar for their refills; the bartender was more than happy to oblige.

A group of friends and I went there for brunch and found ourselves amongst the worst assortment of individuals in Manhattan---Actually I'll extend that to all of New York. I've always heard about these people....you know, the type who buy LV earmuffs and uggs for their stuffed animal dog. The Essex is their home den. It was so loud we could barely have a conversation except to comment on how ridiculous the environment was and we received horrible service from an aspiring model with a bad attitude. She made it very clear that it was I who should be grateful that she had the time of day to take my order. The reason I gave it a 3 instead of a 0 was for the food. The food was great. But not 100th of what it needs to be for me to ever step in there again.

Sunday Brunch @ Essex Restaurant is a New York Happening. For only $16 you get a complete brunch with many exotic items like Mexican Matza Brey and 3 FREE DRINKS. It is by far the best brunch in New York City and certainly the price is not matched anywhere...
