If this lofty coffee shop smells slightly of unwashed hair, stale (sweated) booze, burnt Joe, and a hint of mildew and incense, it also provides the non-olfactory amenities of a college dorm via junk shop couches, randomly strewn chairs, and a wall of Naugahyde U-booths offering slightly clubbier seating. In addition to the coffee, tea, and bagels served during daytime hours, a small but solid selection of bottled beers, wines by the glass, and Panini sandwiches encourages study dates to turn into real ones when the sun sets in the tall windows, the matching iBooks close up, and a slightly less scholarly crowd moves in, ready to relax to the sound of the experimental electronica and lo-fi indie rock that's also available for purchase at the record shop next door.
