Although this Times Square institution’s ads are no longer ubiquitous on the light boxes atop New York City taxi cabs, out-of-town businessmen still descend in droves down its narrow entry staircase. A suited host whisks them across the cheetah-print carpet to tables where waitresses in Playboy-bunny-style jumpsuits push drinks that cost almost as much as the “private” dances that are performed either at the table or on crowded banquettes in the shadowy side nooks. Suit-and-tie wearers at the tables in front of the underlit, T-shaped catwalk that allows three pole dances at a time are treated to an endless parade of fiendishly fit dancers who seem to have answered a casting call for Barbie: The Movie: Even the Asians are blonde, and their tops, which are the only thing they are allowed to reveal, often seem to be made by Mattel. Although the bold-faced names (Christina Aguilera, Carson Daly) who are said to have rolled through might be able to blow four figures for an hour in the Champagne room, those simply needing to sober up before going home to the wife opt instead for a table-side back massage or sushi at the fully stocked island bar that's located in the center of the room.
