Florio's is one of the few surviving relics of Little Italy's storied wiseguy ways. The space made its name with red sauce and cigars, and it's earned a certain mythic authenticity over the decades, its front door plastered with the headshots of actors, fighters, and presidents, its walls bearing emblems of fierce loyalty to the Old Country and the U.S. Marines. Yet even these mementos can't bar the unstoppable forces of progress: Cigar smoke no longer clouds the air here, but you’ll still see rows of pungent stogies lining the wall humidor's shelves, and patrons may, with help, find space to indulge.
