This Irish pub is right across the street from Cornell med-school housing and Sloan-Kettering, meaning hospital workers of all stripes stop by to wolf cheeseburgers, throw darts, and even do Jäger shots. The small but inviting room never feels empty, even though it opens at 11am — the earlier hours often house construction workers breaking for a cold one and batch of jalapeño poppers. Later, various theme and game nights take over: darts Monday through Tuesday, and karaoke and guest bartenders throughout the week. Décor is typical Irish pub, with brick walls, wood paneling, and a few tall tables. Pete’s also offers a full menu, with Irish, Spanish, and American grill items and snacks of the deep-fried variety.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
